Interviewing the Top 12 BOTG3 Participants!

The other day, a fellow hunter suggested the idea of interviewing the Top 12 BOTG participants as he was curious about what they went through, what they learnt in BOTG, what is their motivation etc..

I thought it was a great idea and managed to get 11 teams to take part in an interview!
(Either a representative from the team or the whole team was interviewed!)

It's definitely interesting and worth the read!

Major Teams

Knights of Regalia (Interview in Process)

Discussion: BYP Eingram and Guardian

The time has finally come for the Ancient Automatons : Eingram and Guardian to arise from their slumber and emerge in the lands of Heiland! Raging Eingram will grant you the strength of the Primal Stone Fire Heat GS, and Sentry Guardian unleashes your fervour with the Ceremonial Water SnC. Are you ready to acquire the power of ancient technology?

Shishui: YAAAAAAS!

Nezzy: Well, let's dive straight into the individual review of each equipment sets!

Eingram : Fire Heat GS

I'm sure everyone is familiar with Lich GS by now. In essence, Eingram GS is an offensive counterpart to Lich GS which is the defensive counterpart. Boasting a grand total of +114% Cleave damage, and bonus +54% damage on Heat bar usage, Eingram GS packs a relentless punch against unsuspecting enemies. The weapon is endowed with double support magi slots, which enables unique combinations of both offensive and defensive support options so that you can fully optimise your playstyle, including the infamous Venom Guard + Smite Sprite combo.

The only distinct downside to Eingram GS is the lack of survivability options. With no defensive abilities and no heal magi slot, you will be relying heavily on your support magi and dodging skills to stay alive. However, in a team setting this can be compensated by AoE heals from allies.

Summary : A powerful set that requires min-maxing and strong control to fully realise its potential. A top-tier choice, not recommended for uninvested players.

Guardian : Water SnC

Sadly, this is another set that has fallen at the hands of the merciless meta. Guardian SnC does possess a respectable +63% damage boost during Soul mode, along with +63% dodge distance for better maneuverability. What is lacking however, is that the set does not have any Soul charge speed or attack speed, leading to unstable damage output. To maximise the potential of Guardian SnC, you will need to adopt a burst-type playstyle by investing all your offense into the short span of Soul mode duration you have. Very high effort, low reward which is unfavourable due to the plethora of superior options out there.

However, I must say this. That equipment design is absolutely beautiful! Definitely worth collecting just for fashion! (may be my biased opinion, don't think too much into this point)

Summary : Not the best, but definitely servicable. It does help that SnC is and will be one of the most powerful weapon classes for quite a period, thus this makes Guardian SnC still a viable water element option.

Thanks for reading!

Good luck for your pulls!

Discussion: Status Effects on Behemoth

Today we have a special guest: Karyu, who will be sharing with us his knowledge of status effects performed on behemoths!

ShiShui: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself Hunter?

Karyu: Hi there! I am Karyu. I believe some might heard about me but I'll introduce myself again. I am currently the main admin of DP discord community server and also the leader of LR - Lux Regalia. I've been playing Dragon Project since the start of release in JP server. DP is definitely one of my favorite game on mobile platform, since it have fairly easier control and gameplay, and the style is really suitable. I believe most people who played Monster Hunter before will understand how you love this similar game style. As for my hobby in DP, I do love sharing thoughts about mechanics of the game to others. I don't have a particular weapon that I like, therefore I enjoy using each weapon and each type. Making the database is one of my biggest satisfaction to contribute to the global server, and I glad it helped out a lot of players by planning their future sets. However, there are something that the database didn't cover. Therefore today I'm glad Shishui had invite me to here, and I will be talking about status effects performed on behemoths.

ShiShui: I cant wait to learn from you Karyu!!

Shishui: Hmm.. I know there are status ailments like Paralyze, Poison, Burn that we can inflict on the behemoth.. And the level of effectiveness towards different elemental behemoth varies right? Can you tell us more about that?

Karyu: There are a varieties of status effect exist in DP, both on characters and behemoths. Here is a chart that shows the effectiveness of each status effect (and I included the future status as well)

Karyu: As you can see, the status effects are divided into 3 categories. The effectiveness will affect the speed of applying the status onto the behemoth. The "No effect" category are specific status that could only apply to specific elemented behemoth, while the others are general status.

Karyu: Before talking more about effectiveness, I'm sure that most people misunderstand how status effect works. They don't apply by chance (e.g. you have 10% chance to paralyze this behemoth), but as rate (in terms of qunatity) instead. Imagine there is a hidden gauge for each (general) status similar to the fatigue gauge that is directly shown under the behemoths' HP bar. By casting attack that imflicts status effect, you will gradually fill up the status gauge according to the fill rate that each attack gives.

Shishui: Wow that's interesting! 😲 If thats the case.. Does that mean the rate of filling up the "Status gauge" varies accordingly to whether they come under the "Effective" column or "Highly resisted" column? How does it work?

Karyu: Yes, now back to the chart I just showed you. Each behemoth element have their own resistance to each status effect. Therefore, the "Effective" category is status that the element don't resist as much (or close to none), in other words, it don't interfere the status effect fill rate. On the other hand, the "Highly resisted" category is where the element greatly lowers the fill rate of that status. This is why it takes so many attacks in order to paralyze a lightning or earth behemoth (yes they can be paralyze, not impossible), or to freeze a lightning or water behemoth. There is a great misunderstanding that some general status won't apply to some element, which is wrong.

Shishui: Wait.. I have a burning question!! Does Thundering Hysteria fill the "Status gauge" faster than Neurotoxin since one is ranked SS and the other is ranked B?.. It's weird that i felt no difference between using the two x.x

Karyu: Just as mentioned, the fill rate depends on the attack, no matter from magi or from your own attack. And yes, I'm gonna quickly touch on Neurotoxin and Thundering Hysteria. Both magi grants you the ability where weapon can fill up paralyze. However, the fill rate doesn't depend on the rarity of the magi, but the attack you perform, which means both magi only gives the paralyze enchant, but Thundering Hysteria doesn't have a "higher rank" paralyze imagined by some people. What do I mean by the attack performed is basically the mechanics of the weapon. Normal attack tends to give lower fill rate, whereas some charge attack or dodge attack gives higher fill rate. Just for example, if you compare a full normal combo from a db and lethal draw from soul gs, you'll find that soul gs easily paralyze the behemoth in 3-4 LD on water and fire behe, whereas it takes about 5-6 full sets of normal combo (and fully hit) on db. You may want to try out and you'll see what I mean.

Shishui: Welp.. There goes my Thundering Hysteria.. a fodder 😐

Shishui: Does the rate of filling up the "Status gauge" decrease the next time i inflict the same status ailment on the behemoth?

Karyu: As for element-specific status, it doesn't work in a similar way. Yes, you will find that the more times you inflict the same status on a behemoth, the resistance gets higher everytime and it takes more time to apply the status again. However, for element-specific status, you will find that it applies every time you hit. Since they only work on 1 element, they are guaranteed that the status is applied. Therefore you will see your Falling Stars burn earth behemoths everytime it lands, or shock a water behemoth to get it knocked back like a noob.

Note: Holy bind needs to stack up the number of attacks in order to bind a dark behemoth

Shishui: Ahhhh i see i see!! What about rage mode? Does it affect the rate of filling the "Status gauge" too?

Karyu: Rage is another main factor that affect status effect. As behemoth enters rage mode, magi damage dealt on behemoth is reduced by 75%, and their resistance to general status are greatly increased. Some might experience that it takes a lot of paralyze hit to paralyze a water behemoth after it rages. Just imagine the "Effective" category moves to "Highly resisted". This also works to fatigue, and it's quite noticable that the fatigue fill rate gets lower once the behemoth rages. However, element-specific status can still guarantee applied onto a raged behemoth.

Shishui: Wow i definitely learnt alot from you today! Thank you for sharing with us Karyu!

Karyu: Thank you for your time in reading this sea of words. Hope you guys won't get buzzed by the essay and find it useful!

Discussion: Grinning Sisters; Ayame and Yurami!? BYP!

Shishui: Welcome to another episode of..

Before You Pull (BYP)

By Nezzy! 😍

Shishui: Yup this series is gonna be called "Before you pull" because you must read it before you pull.. Ok lets cut my nonsense and pass this on to Nezzy!

Nezzy: After an endless barrage of revivals and revamps, the Grinning Sisters : Ayame and Yurami have finally broken the curse cycle and graced us with their presence in Heiland. Ayame's Fire SnC and Yurami's Earth Soul GS are one of the more coveted sets in DP history. In fact, if you are a regular patron of Shishui's blog or Karyu's database, you will know that many veterans from both global and JP give very high ratings for the sisters.
Shishui: All hail Fire SNC!!! (Voice echo-ing in the background)

Nezzy: But hold your impulse hunter! While the community has pretty much agreed the sisters' sets are golden goods, majority of us have neglected to consider the flip side. What are the potential weaknesses or drawbacks of the sets? Luckily for you, I've already done the thinking.

Who doesn't love a little controversy?

Ayame : Fire SnC

For majority of hunters, the limelight falls onto the armour pieces. Boasting 24% soul charge AND 24% soul mode damage, it is without doubt one of the best snc abilities around. On the other hand, the weapon grants 22% attack speed, a very interesting ability when put on SnC. Allow me to explain why.

Bonus attack speed means your combo time is shortened drastically, which translates to more hits and faster fatigues! Superior aggression! Sounds good right? Here's the trade off : Faster combo time equals lesser iframe duration. If you're one of those spoilt plebs used to dodging behemoth attacks with SnC's long iframes, you may find yourself in an awkward spot. On top of that, you will have lesser delay time to decide which swing finisher to end with. Not a major problem, but one you might stumble on when trying to maximise your damage output.

Yurami : Earth Soul GS

Perhaps the less popular due to popular opinion that soul GS is bad. But I assure you, Yurami is a cleave cut above the rest. In a full 7/7, her stellar 73% lethal draw  reduction and 66% soul charge is what defines the set. This combination empowers you with shorter downtime for soul mode and maximises the damage output of lethal draw. The ability to spam high damage lethal draws means more reliable dps and faster magi charge.

Downside? Soul GS's  innate weakness of having a linear attack pattern, leading to a rather rigid playstyle, and the fact that the set has weak mobility, which results in a technically demanding yet deceivingly simple weapon.

And that's about all from me! Hope you had a good read and managed to takeaway something yourself!

Good luck for your pulls!
